have default configuration . You can use them when the command so required.
If the local host properly configured rndc command can do following things
querylog-turns of logging queries to this name server
refresh- Refresh database
reload- After edit the zone you can type zone name after the reload command it will perform reload particular zone.
stats-sent the current named stats to the /var/named/named.stats file
halt-stop the named service
stop- stop the server
RNDC options are
-c to use configuration file other than the default /etc/rndc.conf
-p-use port number for the rndc other than default 953
-s- to sent the command to server other than default-server
-y- to specify the key other than default key in /etc/rndc.conf
